City Anniversary Marks Reopening of Tourist Points in Foz do Iguaçu

The city of Foz do Iguacu completes 106 years in the midst of an unprecedented scenario. The destination, known for being home to one of the 7 Wonders of Nature and great works of engineering, had to close its doors to tourism in mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

But, thinking of bringing a climate of hope and renewal to all inhabitants and visitors, the tourist attractions in Foz do Iguaçu will reopen from the 10th of June, anniversary of the city, respecting safety and hygiene standards, in accordance with health protocols.

As the place has few cases of the disease, the resumption of activities will be gradual, including waterfalls of Iguaçu and other attractions. Check out more information and learn how the reopening of tourist attractions in Foz do Iguaçu will work:

Iguacu National Park

One of the most visited places in the city, the National Park is where the waterfalls of Iguaçu. With a record record of around 2 million tourists in 2019, the attraction has hundreds of falls, of different sizes, and a breathtaking view of the Argentine side.

Besides, of course, the famous Devil's Throat, a separate show reserved at the end of the trail in the park.

What has changed 

The reopening of the site is scheduled for June 10th and will have special security measures. As of that date, the National Park will have its capacity reduced to up to 350 visitors per hour.

You Tickets will be sold exclusively online, with the exception of the community pass, which can be purchased at the entrance to the attraction. The attraction will work Tuesdays to Sundays.

Macuco Safari

One of the most famous adventure tours in Foz do Iguaçu, Macuco Safari is ideal for those who enjoy nature, water and trails. The route includes a stretch through the jungle, first by truck, then on foot. And then, the main part, a boat trip to the falls of Iguazu Falls.

What has changed 

As it is located within the National Park, Macuco Safari will open on the same days as the Park. The use of masks will be mandatory throughout the tour for tourists and employees and hygiene measures will be reinforced, in addition to distancing inside the boat. 

Bird Park

The largest bird park in Latin America will also resume its activities on the city's anniversary, on June 10.

During the time it was closed, the attraction maintained its daily care for the animals and made improvements to its structure. The teams were organized to meet the needs of the complex, including feeding the birds and maintaining the spaces.

O Bird Park it is located near the Iguaçu Falls and is part of the list of the main tourist attractions in the city.

What has changed 

Tickets will be sold preferably online and will run from Tuesday to Sunday. 

Upon arriving at the Park, the visitor will have their temperature measured, pass through a sanitizing mat and have access to gel alcohol at various points during the tour. In addition, the use of masks will be mandatory, both for tourists and employees. 

Itaipu Binacional

Unlike the other tourist attractions in Foz do Iguaçu, the Itaipu hydroelectric plant will reopen for tourism on June 11th.

Tours were closed indefinitely after the city went into quarantine, but are expected to resume gradually. 

On the anniversary of the city, the company organized a live in solidarity with the participation of singer Gabriel Smaniotto, with the support of the Acelera Foz program. The action aims to collect donations for tourism professionals who lost their jobs during the crisis caused by the Coronavirus.

What has changed 

At first, the site will only provide the panoramic tour, reducing schedules and the capacity of tourists, using vehicles that prioritize natural ventilation. 

Buses will be sanitized at all stops and at the end of each tour. The use of masks will also be mandatory and gel alcohol will be made available to visitors and employees. 

Bags and backpacks will be searched using an X-ray machine, avoiding physical contact with the objects and tickets will be sold preferably online or at the self-service kiosk on site.

Landmark of the 3 Borders

One of the main tourist attractions in Foz do Iguaçu, Marco das 3 Fronteiras, is scheduled to reopen on June 10. 

The place is known for providing an incredible view of the meeting of the Iguaçu and Paraná rivers, bordered by the 3 countries: Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, guaranteeing an unforgettable tour for all visitors.

What has changed

The children's playground and the Cabeza de Vaca restaurant remain closed, avoiding the agglomeration of people. The attraction will adopt all hygiene and safety measures, providing gel alcohol and reducing the number of visitors per day. Mask wearing is also mandatory.
