Exploring the Iguazu Falls

It is impossible not to be impressed by the imposing Iguaçu Falls. They are 275 waterfalls that exude a powerful energy and demonstrate the force of nature. The average flow is 1.5 million liters of water per second.  

The tour to admire this amazing natural attraction starts right at the entrance of the Iguaçu National Park – one of the largest preservation areas in the Atlantic Forest, which is home to an enormous diversity of fauna, including endangered species and, of course, the Iguazu Falls.

Then, you will board a bus and travel through the forest reserve for about 10 km to the Trail of the Falls. Right at the first viewpoint it is possible to have a panoramic view of the grand falls.

Along the route, about 1.2 km, you can admire this wonder and experience an immersion in nature. It's common cross with coatis and spot butterflies, among other animals along the way.

Arriving at the end of the path, a footbridge leads to the Devil's Throat – the biggest and most impressive drop, 82 meters high and 700 meters long. This tour is included in the Iguaçu National Park ticket.

  • Iguazu Falls – Price:

The values are between R$ 40.00 for Brazilians and R$ 70.00 for foreigners. Residents of Mercosur countries, neighboring municipalities and children of any nationality have reduced rate.

In addition to the Trilha das Cataratas, there are several other options for tours in Foz do Iguacu and still inside the National Park, which can make the trip even more fun.

To board these attractions, just take the same bus at the entrance to the park and then get off at the signposted stop for each tour.

O Macuco Safari is the ideal tour for those who are not satisfied with just taking pictures of the catwalks and who need even more emotion.

It all starts on board an electric vehicle that crosses a large green area of the forest, until boarding a boat that takes you a few meters from the gigantic falls of the Iguazu Falls.

O ticket for Macuco Safari is R$ 240.00 and those who live in the region pay half the amount. It is possible to purchase by attractive website.

Poço Preto trail

In the heart of the park, the Poço Preto trail starts in a 320-meter suspended walkway and a 9 km long trail, which can be traveled on foot, by bicycle or electric cart.

Throughout the course, the adventurer is faced with the most exuberant fauna and flora of the Atlantic Forest. After completing the route, a motorized boat continues along the Iguaçu River to the Taquaras Archipelago. Finally, the return can be graced with a beautiful sunset. Disembarkation takes place at Porto Bananeiras or Porto Canoas.

This tour lasts approximately three and a half hours, and must be accompanied by accredited guides and boatmen. Reservations are made at least 24 hours in advance and can be made at your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu.

The ticket for the tour costs around R$ 140.00.

When to Visit Iguazu Falls

If you want to admire the volume of water and check out the maximum potential of its falls, in addition to enjoying the hottest days, the best thing to do is go in the summer. In winter, the falls are more defined and the ideal is to dress warmly and use a raincoat to avoid getting wet.

Therefore, the region can be visited all year round and, for sure, will enchant the tourist in the same way. The most popular months are during the December, January and July holiday periods. At other times, it is easier to find promotional packages.

How to get to Iguazu Falls

Arriving in Foz do Iguaçu, you can go to the Iguaçu Falls in the following ways:

  • Car: enough take Avenida das Cataratas and follow it to the end.
  • Taxi or Transport App: one of the ways more practical and comfortable to reach the Iguazu Falls. A taxi ride from the center is around R$ 60.00. Already through the app, it costs an average of R$ 30.00.
  • Bus: for those looking to save money, this is the best transportation option. The pass is around R$ 3.85. Take the line 120 (National Park), which runs every 20 minutes.
