In order to clean and maintain all spaces on the site, the Itaipu Tourist Complex will not be open to the general public on Tuesdays. The measure was imposed to improve visitor service and care for employees during this pandemic period.
It is worth noting that some of the tour schedules will also be reduced. Due to state decrees, the activities work with 30% of their capacity limit.

Attention to the new opening hours (from April 1st)
- Itaipu Panoramic: departures every full hour, from 9 am to 4 pm, with a maximum capacity of 35 visitors on the company buses;
- Itaipu Biological Refuge: maximum 15 visitors per departure at 8:30 am, 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm;
- Itaipu Ecomuseum: from 10 am to 5 pm, with a capacity of 30% in each space. Science in the Sphere, located in the Ecomuseum, has sessions every 20 minutes, with a maximum of nine people per group.
The pandemic is not over: take care
Health protocols, such as the mandatory use of a mask throughout the visit, availability of 70% alcohol and the use of the upper part of the buses, which is open, are also preventive measures taken by the Complex to guarantee the safety of visitors.

Itaipu Panoramic
The Itaipu dam is 7,919 meters long and has a maximum height of 196 meters. And when seen up close, on a tour of the Panoramic Visit, this construction is even more impressive and guarantees an emotion to every visitor who experiences this tour. In addition to the privileged view from the spillway to the top of the dam, the route also allows for true contact with nature and landscapes within the Itaipu Tourist Complex.

Itaipu Biological Refuge
Ocelot, coati, alligator, king vulture and snakes… These are some of the 50 species and more than 960 plant genera sheltered in the Bela Vista Biological Refuge. The tour through the protection unit, created to preserve the fauna and flora during the formation of the Power Plant's reservoir, goes around the Piracema Channel until you reach the shelter buildings. In two kilometers of walking on a trail in the middle of the native forest, the experience is expanded with learning about the environment.

Itaipu Ecomuseum
A return to the past conducted by installations and equipment that allow interaction and greater realism to the experience. Itaipu Ecomuseum recreates scenarios ranging from the prehistoric period to the town of Foz do Iguaçu and the construction of the power plant. Photographs, pieces and objects from the period help to tell the rich history of Itaipu Binacional. A huge model of 76 square meters reproduces the entire trinational region.
