The Association of Foreign Exchange Bureaus of Paraguay is pressuring the Central Bank of Paraguay to put an end to the conflict generated in the market over the refusal of dollars, which has caused great losses to those businesses already affected by the crisis.
According to the article published by the news portal of the Rádio Cultura Foz, although these tickets are valid, the exchange offices that accepted them will not be able to carry out the exchange in the banking system, taking the loss. The refusal of old dollar bills by the Central Bank of Paraguay has harmed trade and the system.
Rogelio Welko, president of the Association of Exchange Houses, explains that most of these dollars arrive from abroad, “(…) tourists already come with these tickets with old series to make purchases and end up being surprised by the non-acceptance in stores. We are not accepting these tickets and therefore we are not selling them either.”
The orientation for those who buy dollars to make purchases in Paraguay is not to accept old notes of American currency.
