1) Value limit
The quota stipulated by the Federal Revenue Service is, at most, U$300.00 (three hundred dollars) that can be spent on stores in paraguay, equivalent to approximately R$1200.00* (one thousand two hundred reais). Above this value, it is necessary to declare the purchase and pay the tax on top of the excess value.

Therefore, it is important to keep the notes that are issued at the time of purchase, as they need to be declared later if your purchase exceeds the limit of U$300.00.

2) Quantity limit
When to go to shopping in paraguay, it's good to keep in mind about the limit on the quantity of items that can be bought and brought into Brazil.
The Federal Revenue established a limit of, maximum, 30 items that can be purchased in Paraguay. Of these 30 items, 10 can have a value above U$5 (five dollars) and the other 20 needs to be below this value.
It is worth remembering that, of the 10 items above five dollars, Just 3 can be identical. For example: cell phones, regardless of the brand, have the same function. Thus, buying three of them, even if they are from different brands, already count as identical products and reach the limit stipulated, not being possible to buy another cell phone in addition to these.
In the case of clothes, such as t-shirts, if the colors are different, the product will not count as identical, being possible to buy more than 3 pieces. Therefore, it is always important to pay attention to the function of the commodity to be purchased, as this is the important point when going through the Federal Revenue.
These limits also include products that have a limitation to enter the tax exemption quota. Are they:
- Alcoholic beverages: 12 liters
- Cigarettes: 10 packs
- Cigars or cigarillos: 25 pieces
- Smoke: 250 grams
3) What CANNOT be brought to Brazil?
Overall, the most products from Paraguay can be brought to Brazil, if they are within the norms of value and quantity that the Federal Revenue determines for Brazilians.
However, some products are really forbidden crossing the border, such as:
- branded cigarettes that are not marketed in Brazil;
- cigarettes and beverages manufactured in Brazil, but sold only abroad;
- firearm replicas;
- animal and aquatic species without permission and/or license;
- counterfeit products;
- tires;
- products with genetically modified organisms (GMO's);
- pesticides;
- medicines;
- narcotics.
