Traveling as a family requires planning, organization and the following analysis: “will this program please everyone?”. Children and teenagers are always in the focus of this answer, as they tend to get bored easily, don't they?

Therefore, a script with what to do in Foz do Iguaçu with the family it is essential. In addition to the unmissable programs for any traveler who comes to the region, we separate some tips for the trip to be nice for everyone! Let's go?

Day 1 – Bird Park, Waterfalls and Dinner

A good option is to use the morning to visit Parque das Aves. The location is the largest bird park in Latin America, highlighted in tourism in Foz do Iguaçu – the second most visited point in the city.

Inside Parque das Aves there is an additional tour, the Backstage Experience, which offers visitors the opportunity to experience behind the scenes of the recovery and conservation work, in addition to feeding toucans, flamingos and other animals. Children love it!

At the end of the morning, it's time to visit the exuberant Iguaçu Falls and its 275 waterfalls. The tour inside Iguacu National Park begins during transport, in the middle of the Atlantic Forest. You can start the Cataratas Trail at any of the four bus stops, or if you prefer, get off at the last one and have lunch at the Porto Canoas Restaurant.

AND a peaceful walk and the children can walk, on laps or in a stroller. Take the opportunity to enjoy a boat ride on the Macuco Safari, where you can feel all the energy of nature up close! However, it is not suitable for small children as they may be scared.

In the evening, have dinner at one of the restaurants in puerto iguazu, in Argentine, it is the ideal request. Or choose from the great restaurants to go with children in Foz, such as Bendito, Quinta da Oliva, Trapiche or La Mafia Trattoria.

Day 2 – Itaipu, City Tour and Duty Free Shop

Discover the largest hydroelectric plant in production in the world, the Itaipu Binacional and marvel at this architectural marvel. There are several tours, as we comment here.

We suggest the Panoramic Visit, a bus tour with a view from the spillway to the top of the dam and contact with the beautiful landscapes of the Itaipu Tourist Complex.

Other rides inside the complex that kids love:

– Bela Vista Biological Refuge

Center for the preservation of local fauna and flora. They will be able to learn about environmental awareness, reforestation and animal care.

– Ecomuseum of Itaipu

Super interactive site, created to preserve the history of the plant and the region. There are always art exhibitions and creative shows going on there.

In the afternoon, a good option to save time is to take the City Tour, which includes some tours in Foz do Iguacu such as Buddhist Temple, Islamic Mosque and Marco das Três Fronteiras. It lasts 3 hours and can be done in the morning or afternoon (with departures at 9 am and 2 pm). Children up to 3 years old do not pay.

In the evening, you can go shopping at Duty Free Shop, in Argentina – a charming mall, with the best brands in the world.

Day 3 – Wax Museum, Dinosaur Valley and Acquamania

Still in doubt about what to do in Foz do Iguaçu with children and teenagers? Surely, this will be one of their favorite days! The Dreamland complex includes:

  • wax Museum: more interesting for older children and teenagers
  • Dinosaur Valley: great fun for the little ones, who are enchanted by dinosaurs (especially the puppies!)
  • Car and motorcycle exhibition and ice bar: able to please adults

During the summer, take advantage of the slides and pools at the Acquamania, a water park next to Dreamland with more than 180,000 m² and lots of fun!

Day 4 – Argentine Falls and Puerto Iguazú Market

To the Argentine waterfalls are very much worth the visit: each side has unique beauties and attractions. A good tour option is the great adventure, experience similar to Macuco Safari on the Brazilian side. Also not suitable for younger children.

There are two restaurants inside the Iguazú National Park, Fortin and La Selva. Both serve barbecue with various types of meat, buffet of hot and cold dishes, salads, pastas and desserts.

After the tour, take the opportunity to visit the Market in Puerto Iguazu – ideal for eating empanadas, cheese, olives and drinking beer. Children will certainly love the different options of Argentine dulce de leche and alfajores!

Just pay attention to the tour schedule in Puerto Iguazú, as the city makes the famous “ciesta” from 14:00 to 16:00 – time when the trade closes.

Extra Tip: if you intend to shopping in paraguay, prefer not to take the children, as Ciudad del Este is very busy and can be a stressful tour.

If it is unavoidable to take them, choose places like Shopping Paris, Shopping China or Shopping Del Este (good options to find electronics, toys, clothing, drinks, personal and household items), instead of shopping on the streets.
